Book Review: The Beginning of the Quest for the High Esteem of the Messenger

Bidayat as-sul fi Tafdil ar-Rasul

Title: The Beginning of the Quest for the High Esteem of the Messenger (Bidyat As-sul Fi Tafdil Ar-Rasul)
Publisher: Turath Publishing 2010
Original Author: Imam ‘Izz ibn ‘Abd al-Salam
Translator: Aisha Bewley

This is a concise and short work, very very weighty in word. It is a book that brings to the attention of the reader forty distinctive virtues and characteristics of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). These forty characteristics distinguish him (peace be upon him) among all of the other Prophets (peace be upon them all), these characteristics and virtues elevate his (peace be upon) rank above the ranks of the other Prophets (peace be upon them all). The book was originally wrote for scholars, and has been rendered into English with extensive footnotes including the Hadiths which relate to each virtue. The reader will leave this book with an increased love for the Prophet (peace be upon him) and a sincere desire to attain his closeness on the Last Day.

May Allah bless all those who assisted in making this book available and elevate those who teach it and those who yearn to learn its contents. Ameen.

Shaykh Abdur Raheem from the UK has lectures on this book during the Turath book launch:
